“We have an obligation to read for pleasure, in private and in public places… show others that reading is a good thing…” ~ Neil Gaiman, 'Why our Future depends on Libraries, Reading and Daydreaming' [Goodread #5/42]
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the #42Goodreads Read-a-thon... Project Bibliotherapy's latest experiment to nudge you to READ MORE 📚...
Earlier this August, I'd compiled 42 of my most-recommended goodreads as a zine, both as a digital rabbit-hole friendly PDF version and a distraction-free physical edition embedded with QR codes.
Over the course of the next 12 weeks, this zine will act as the main source of all reading material for the read-a-thon. Get your clickable copy below...
So how does the #42Goodreads Read-a-thon work?
The chief aim of this experiment is to boost your reading habit by making it easier to explore the greatest library known to humankind, the Internet.
It will be conducted in two phases - the last 42 days of 2021 and the first 42 days of 2022.
Phase I: November 20th, 2021 - December 31st, 2021
Revisiting each of the 42 Goodreads of the Internet, one day at a time, and nudging you via Instagram and Twitter to check them out.
Phase II: January 1st, 2022 - February 11th, 2022
Further exploring the boundless oceans of content created by the authors of these 42 goodreads in a quest to discover more gems.
Also, I would be tracking my reading over these 12 weeks in a quest to minimize mindless scrolling and regaining control of my attention.
You are most welcome to join the #42Goodreads Read-a-thon at any time before December 31st, 2021. You can register right away by supporting Project Bibliotherapy on ScrollStack with a contribution of your choice, and I'll get back to you...
50% of all funds collected through this Read-a-thon will be utilized towards buying books for others, especially kids, in the form of giveaways, library donations and more.
In case of any queries, feel free to reach out on Instagram or Twitter :)
I'm looking forward to reading for pleasure, in public, through a structured approach, after 20 months of experimentation of the bibliotherapeutic kind. These 'Letters to the Reader' shall keep you posted on all developments as we progress.
Stay tuned, and happy reading :) ~ Nitin
PS. Here's Goodread #1 to get you started, a stark reminder of how bibliophobia can be injurious to health...
